The Minnesota Cannabis Market: Updates and Insights from a Dispensary Operators Perspective

Early Challenges

Minnesota legalized adult use cannabis in May of 2023 and we are finally seeing the market open three years later! That’s right, three years later and that is not a typo. Minnesota had one of the slowest cannabis market rollouts in the country, but despite continued road blocks the market is finally starting to open. It has been a long and difficult road for many small Minnesota operators with some being forced to close their doors before they even opened. In fall of 2025 Minnesota allowed medical cannabis dispensaries to start selling recreational cannabis, giving them a jump start on state operators who were stuck waiting for inventory to become available. For many small businesses this was a final nail in the coffin in already challenging market opening and caused them to close doors due to declining sales as consumers flooded into medical dispensaries. As a small independently owned store, we are grateful to have made it this far and appreciative to our dedicated customers that have kept our doors open. There are still many challenges ahead and we are going to be relying on our community support to help get us to the finish line.

What can Healing Harvest Expect to See?

Healing Harvest Dispensary

Minnesota is poised to see a lot of new products hit the shelves starting this summer and we are working hard to make connections to bring those products to our shelves! Tribal partners have been getting products to shelves in our early market and continue to be essential with stocking Minnesota dispensaries. Campfire Cannabis from Lake Leaf Cultivation has been an amazing partner for us, stocking our shelves with flower and prerolls. This summer into fall expect to see a nice mix of tribal and state curated cannabis products. We are starting to see non-tribal cultivators come to market and many set for big harvests after their summer grows. Currently we have craft cannabis coming from local state manufacturers and cultivators like Loon Labs, Dizgo, Trawa, and Redwood Weed Management. We anticipate getting additional new inventory from state cultivators and manufacturers this summer, so stay tuned!

It’s Been a Topic for all Consumers, Price!

All Minnesota consumers are wondering what is up with the prices! If you have shopped in other legal states you have probably noticed that Minnesota has higher prices. This is not uncommon in a new cannabis market with limited inventory. When a cannabis market is new and inventory is low/limited it drives prices up. Cultivators, manufacturers, transporters, and wholesalers will need be more competitively priced as inventory and services become more available. This means retailers will be able to pass those savings on to the end consumers, that’s you! We expect to see prices some down this winter into next year as summer harvests make their way to the Minnesota cannabis market. We are doing our best to give you the best prices while keeping our doors open and business staffed. To help our customers we offer a mobile rewards app to get cash back, special discounts for military/veteran, and special discounts for medical card holders. We will continue to do our best to bring prices down as the market matures.

New and Old Players to the Game

As the Minnesota Cannabis market begins to blossom keep your eyes open for new cannabis bills and policies that favor big multi-state operators and their goal to take over the market. As with any industry there is always greed and the cannabis industry is no different. Minnesota is already seeing big multi state operators like Rise and Green Goods (Vireo ) send in lobbyists to move cannabis policy in their favor. Small independently owned operators like ourselves are poised to feature craft cannabis, one-on-one budtender service and specialized discounts to maintain customers and drive customer traffic to stores. We encourage cannabis consumers to shop small and local and avoid big medical cannabis corporations and

multi state operators that often cut corners when it some to product quality and quality of service. In Minnesota we hope to see a beautiful craft cannabis industry, but that can only happen when our small independently operated businesses can thrive and compete against big medical cannabis and multi state operators. Shop smart, shop small.

Stay Tuned

This summer is sure to bring about a lot of changes for the Minnesota cannabis market, so buckle up for an exciting ride! From new craft cultivated flower to live resin vapes, our shelves are excited to welcome the new products and serve our beautiful community.
